NEWS
11.23.06
We are NOT playing at Acoustic Coffee this Friday,
Nov. 24th, as prominently reported by the Portland Phoenix. As
our last email stated, we aren't functioning as a performing band
at this point, but rather all have other projects in the works.
We love Acoustic and all the people there, and I'm sure whatever's
going on will be fun. Just know it won't be us.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Big news in the Harpswell Sound camp. After taking
the summer off, we've decided that for the time being Harpswell
Sound will no longer be a performing 4-piece band. 2006 has been
quite a year for all of us, and after losing enough momentum it
feels like the right decision.
Mike will continue playing with the Country/Gospel/Punk band Poor
Valley Salvation Society,
and Kris will continue playing with a growing list of bands including
King Memphis, The
Jerks of Grass,
The Hot Club of Portland, and of course, the mighty Pigpen.
Trey & Ron will continue to write & record together, occasionally
with guest musicians. Look for new releases in 2007.
Ron will be finally launching the Peapod Recordings label properly
in the next few months, starting with a CD of Trey's early 4-track
recordings, a new release from Ron's long-distance band "Nord
Express", and a CD of electronic music by Tulsa's "Nurse
Shark". We'll also be moving into a new studio space that
will facilitate our upcoming rehearsal/recording needs, and are
working on the new website now. Check peapodrecordings.com in the
next month or so for updates.
Email us with any questions. Also a reminder that our records are
still available at emusic.com, the iTunes store, and from harpswellsound.com.
Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who came out to the CD release
party at Genos. Dan Blakeslee and Dead End Armory were awesome,
as usual. Ron's helping Dan Blakeslee record TWO new albums this
summer, so look for those soon, as well as the fabled Dead End
Armory
EP.
Big thanks to Tom Flynn and Sam Pfeifle for their reviews
of the new album! Also check out a great short interview on cystsfts.blogspot.com.
And finally, big thanks to Charlie Gaylord for asking us on his
Greetings
from Area Code 207 show on WCLZ. Always a good time.
"Let's go
anyway", along with other Harpswell
Sound recordings, are now available at eMusic.com and
on the iTunes Store. It's
also being distributed in the states by Revolver
USA, and in Europe
by Rough Trade,
so please ask your local record store to order some copies.
Finally, Trey & Ron are working on an upcoming Peapod release
of Trey's early 4-track recordings.
Fans of early sebadoh, mountain goats,
and iron & wine, take note — this album is going to be incredible.
Peapod will also be releasing a new CD by Ron's old band Nord
Express,
along with music from Nurse Shark (experimental electronic) and
Brett Swain (Bay
area singer-songwriter)...

The new album, titled "Let's
go anyway", is set to be released locally on May 30!
Available locally at Bull
Moose Music. It features 13 new songs mixed and mastered
by Kramer.
We've added 4 full mp3s, 60 second clips, and mailorder info here. Photos
from the recording session are here.
We're having a CD release party on Saturday, June 3rd at Genos with the amazing Dead
End Armory and Dan
Blakeslee.
The CD will
also
be distributed in the US by Midheaven
Mailorder/Revolver, and
in
Europe by Rough
Trade. Please encourage your local record store to order
it through one of these distributors. We are also in the process
of making all Harpswell Sound albums available online through
sites
such as iTunes music store
and emusic.com. More on that soon...

We had 2 great shows in the last two weeks. Big thanks
to Acoustic Coffee, Genos, and everyone who came out.
Big news on the album front. Kramer (Shimmy-Disc
records) contacted
us about working with us on some recordings. I'm a huge fan of
his production,
especially the Galaxie 500 records.
We agreed that since we've finished tracking for our new album,
tentatively titled "let's go anyway", he would
mix and master the record for us. We're looking at a mid-May release
at this point. Very
exciting...

New album out in late May/early June. Thanks to everyone
who came out to the Worknot show at Space. The
Extraordinaires are awesome.

Happy new year!
Kris Day (of King
Memphis, Sean
Mencher and Link
Wray fame) is the new Harpswell
Sound bass player. Big thanks to everyone who tried out.
We had a whirlwind recording session last weekend, with basics
for 14 songs recorded. Kris played some upright on a couple of
acoustic tunes, which sound great. Hope to have two new Harpswell
Sound albums and the children's album out
sometime
in
2006.
